Professional 24/7 nursing and dementia care at Abbey Uplands
Care shaped around comfort, dignity, and confidence.

No. Abbey Uplands Care Home is registered for 24-hour nursing care, not drop-in or daytime-only day care. All of our residents benefit from regular clinical oversight and professional nursing support, which is suitable for those with more complex or changing medical needs.

We offer short-term Respite Care. This allows older adults to stay at Abbey Uplands for a week or more, enjoying 24/7 nursing support, meals, activities, and comfortable en-suite accommodation, while providing family carers with peace of mind and a complete break.

If your loved one requires regular medical attention, specialized injections, clinical monitoring, complex wound care, or has progressive conditions like advanced Parkinson's, severe stroke effects, or COPD, nursing care is the correct choice. Our home manager and clinical team can provide a free pre-admission assessment to help clarify your needs.

We accept self-funding, local authority funding (with or without top-up), and NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC). Self-funding fees start from £1,500 per week. Eligible residents requiring nursing care may also receive NHS Funded Nursing Care (FNC), worth £267.68 per week, paid directly by the NHS towards their care.

Paying for day care

  • Local authority funding. If a needs assessment and a financial assessment by the London Borough of Lambeth show that support is due, the council contributes towards the placement.
  • NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC). Where the primary need is a health need, the NHS may fund the full cost of care.
  • NHS-Funded Nursing Care (FNC). A flat NHS contribution towards the nursing element for residents assessed as needing registered nursing input.
  • Self-funding. Families arranging and paying privately, which is the quickest route where a placement is needed at short notice.

The team at Abbey Uplands Care Home can explain which route is likely to apply before you commit to anything.
